Everyone loved this fiery Irish lass that entered the world on October 12, 1930 as Carol Ethel Bruce. For eighty-five years, she squeezed every bit of life that could be had. And she was all about “good, clean, fun.” This chorus from a song composed and sung at every social gathering by Carol’s longtime friends, “The Snappers,” was a reflection of the joy she brought to people’s lives. Carol had a huge heart and gave in abundance to anyone in need. She gave from the joy of delighting those she appreciated and loved while caring for those in need. From unexpected gifts, donating to charities, or assisting in fundraising, Carol invested her time and resources in people’s lives and that is what we all remember most. She married Harry Cote in 1952 and had three children in New York: Lizbeth, Bruce and Chris. Once they moved to southern California, her fourth child, Casey, came along. Soon her mother “Nana” came to live with them, and they resettled in Atlanta. After working with friends at a destination management company, TourGals, Carol founded Meeting Consultants in 1979 and became a pioneer in the Meetings Industry. She served on state and national industry organizations and several advisory boards. She retired in 2000 and continued as a Board member. Carol later met Jerry Demery and they married in 1982. Both veterans of the Meetings Industry and entrepreneurs, they would work alongside one another in their businesses and became inseparable. They loved one another greatly and spending time with their children and grandchildren at their home or wherever life would take them. Carol loved the holidays and spending them with family. She made each larger than life with grand festivities, delicious food and elegant décor. The Christmas tree was 14’ with thousands of lights. On summer holidays, the lake house was festooned with bunting, flags and lights. Hosting Holiday parties with longtime friends was always a joy for remembering and sharing all those times together. Her girlfriends’ birthday club never missed a lunch date. They kept the love, laughter and memories flowing throughout the years. Carol will miss and be missed by this dear group very much. But on October 20, 2015, it was time for Carol to join Jerry and her family and friends in heaven after two years of being apart. Our hearts are not sad for her, but only for those of us who remain behind: her married children Lizbeth and Randall Krafft, Chris and Cindy Cote, Casey and Jenny Cote, stepson Ron Demery, grandsons Drew Cote and Alex Cote, granddaughter Cami Demery, brother and wife Jack and Clara Bruce. Carol, you left an incredible legacy and touched more people than you will know. Thank you for who you were and will ever be to us. You will no doubt keep the good, clean, fun going. Until we meet again! Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, October 29 at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, in Sandy Springs. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 30 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Sandy Springs, GA. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org.
