

Funeral services for Charles Edward McGlothlin, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 6th at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, located at 173 Allen Road in Sandy Springs, with graveside services following at Arlington Memorial Park. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Mr. McGlothlin passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on November 2, 2013. Mr. McGlothlin, a native of Miami, FL, was born October 3, 1924. His graduation from the University of Miami was preceded by honorable service in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator during World War II. After graduation, he pursued a successful career as an executive with Southern Bell, as well as President of the Sandy Springs Kiwanis Club for four years. Charles was a devoted and loving husband and father, who never met a stranger. After leaving the Miami area, he became a long time resident of Sandy Springs, GA, and then Cumming, GA. Charles was preceded in death by parents, Rose Christian McGlothlin and Charles Edward McGlothlin, and his sister, Rose Mae McGlothlin Trammell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Harriet Manning McGlothlin; two daughters, Pamela McGlothlin Trammel, and Kayella McGlothlin Laroway and husband, Michael Thomas Laroway; 3 grandchildren James Michael Charles Laroway and wife, Amy Moore Laroway, Aaron William Spencer, and Karey Laroway Mitchell and husband, William Russell Mitchell, III; nephews Alan and Bud Trammell; great granddaughter Margaret Elizabeth Laroway; and several great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation to Donna Young, and Ron Frasier for the kindness, care and support they provided to Mr. McGlothlin over the course of his illness. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association or to donor's choice.
