Charlotte M. Patronis was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 8, 1928. She was the daughter of Charles G. and Betty Miller, late of Marietta, Georgia. Charlotte died on January 21, 2014 after a long and lingering battle with Lewy body dementia. She is survived by her sons, Scott M. Patronis of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Paul M. Patronis of Sandy Springs, Georgia as well as her husband Dr. Eugene T. Patronis, Jr. of Sandy Springs, Georgia. Charlotte's father was a member of the PGA and a teaching golf professional originally based in the Chicago area. Charlotte spent much of her formative years living in many different cities as her father's professional career advanced. Charlotte and the Miller family finally arrived in Atlanta where her father became the golf professional at Druid Hills Country Club a position he held for many years. Charlotte's close contacts with club employees at all levels as well as club members also at all levels imbued in her a true Christian feeling for and generosity toward all people. Upon residing in Atlanta Charlotte attended and subsequently graduated from Girls' High School. Following her graduation it was Charlotte's intention to pursue a college degree in nursing and she found employment as a typist to earn money towards that goal. This goal became modified as the result of a blind date and subsequent marriage to a student as well as employee at Georgia Tech. Charlotte married Eugene T. Patronis, Jr. on May 11, 1951. The marriage was blessed with a son, Scott, on May 2, 1954 and a second son, Paul, on April 29, 1957. Charlotte's husband took a leave of absence from Georgia Tech in the fall of 1957 and moved the family to Port Jefferson, New York to be with him while he was performing specialized nuclear physics experiments at Brookhaven National Laboratory. In 1959 Charlotte's family was back in Atlanta where her husband had resumed his employment at Georgia Tech and she continued rearing her young sons and being helpful to her immediate neighbors while living in Chamblee, Georgia. The family made its final move in 1965 to what is now Sandy Springs, Georgia where Charlotte began to pursue her natural talent in art. Charlotte had done pencil sketches for a number of years, but now she seriously studied china painting, joined the Atlanta Chapter of Porcelain Artists in which she was an occasional officer and through the years produced many commendable works. Throughout her entire life Charlotte sacrificed her time and treasure to help others. She nursed both of her parents through their final illnesses as well as that of the mother of her husband. She exerted a nurturing influence on all she ever met in her later years. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that a donation be made to your favorite charity. Memorial services celebrating Charlotte's life will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at Patterson's Arlington Chapel. Prior to the memorial the family will gather for a private interment at Arlington Memorial Park. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from one o'clock until the hour of service at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, Georgia.
