Dan always had an upbeat happy “thumbs up” attitude!

What a genuinely nice, humble man Dan was.  I almost don’t know how we will get along with out his sound advice on life, family,  finances and of course insurance! For the last 20 years he has helped our companies and our many  employees decide on the best options to care for their families. Navigating the treacherous insurance waters of the last 10 years has been anything but easy! But he was absolutely tireless in his dedication to us.  He was a Rock. I’m so very sorry for his family. He talked about you, prayed for you and worried about you.  How lucky we all were to call him our friend.  

To say he will be missed doesn’t do him justice.  ❤️ 🙏

Dan, you were a man of high character, integrity and faith. I’m lucky to have known you these past 13 years. Thanks for all you did for me and our firm. You will be missed!!

Having known Dan for 50 years or more, I feel our world has really lost a kind, gracious, and wonderful man. Heaven is richer, as we are for his presence in our world, but we are also poorer, since we no longer have the benefit of his physical  person  and all of the many roles  he has played through his nearly eight decades in this world. Charlotte and I have prayed many prayers of comfort and peace in the last weeks  for Beka, Danny, and Elizabeth and all the families.
Dan and his family did many wonderful things for me and my family, especially in the years when our children were in school together, and at times our children were the greatest friends together, and then through our years with Campus Crusade and our years together in church at second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Dan has left and is leaving a wonderful legacy for all of us to not only admire but to emulate as we can. Love for family, integrity, kindness toward Others and God especially mark Dan in my view. Charlotte and I are extremely sorry we are unable geographically to be at Dans celebration of life. But please know we are celebrating his life daily. And with continued hopes and prayers for Comfort from God Himself for all.

Dan and I met in 1972 when we were both young bankers starting our careers in Atlanta. He was with National Bank of Georgia (I believe) and I with Trust Company of Georgia.  We have been close friends ever since, speaking at least every couple of weeks right up until he was in the hospital and then could not take calls.  I miss him immensely!

About 30 years after graduation Dan and I reconnected by chance at Kiawah Island, where I worked and he and Beka were on vacation with the family.  Our friendship rekindled, we saw each other often over the ensuing years.

My favorite memory, of course, revolves around our shared faith.  I was in Atlanta for a Seed Company dinner (early 2013) and Dan went as my guest.  The speaker challenged us all to grow and share our faith where we’re planted.  

Dan immediately decided to start the Trinity Group focused on friendship, faith and golf.  I was honored to be asked to be the speaker at the initial meeting in late May, 2013.

As fate would have it, a month before the meeting I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and immediately started chemotherapy.  Within a couple of weeks I was completely bald and experiencing significant fatigue. I called Dan to tell him of my condition and to see if he wanted to find someone else to speak.

With typical Dan Whigham enthusiasm, he said, “No, Pat, that’s even more reason for you to come.”
 
After I spoke on “Three Questions That Changed My Life”, as I was leaving the podium Dan came up, asked me to kneel down on the floor and invited the 30-40 men in the room to pray over me with a “laying on of the hands”.

That moment that Dan initiated was one of the most moving experiences I have ever felt. Of course, it was classic Dan, always thinking of others and taking every opportunity to witness and share his faith.

Dan, I love you, I’ll miss you and look forward to being reunited with you in God’s eternal Kingdom.

Dan was a such a good friend.  I so enjoyed our time together serving on the Board at Cherokee.  We had many fun times especially following the meetings.   We always enjoyed dinners with Dan and Beka.   Dan loved Cherokee,  but most of all he loved Beka and his family.  Rest in peace, my friend.

I am so very happy to have known Dan these 13 plus years since I joined the Trinity program that he started. His positive and joyful attitude was contagious on the golf course and the workout room. I was with him playing golf when I almost had my first hole-in-one. The ball went in the hole and jumped out. He laughed ( remember the Dan laugh) and told me that I should pray a little harder...Just one of many memories of him that will stay with me forever. HIs dedication and love of the Trinity group is a true legacy for him. So much healing and lifting up of others happened because of these Trinity meetings. Now he is on the highway to Heaven. He will forever be missed.  My deepest condolences to his family.

Dan will be forever missed.. Dan is a devout Christian and often made enthusiastic reference to the specific time of his salvation. Such made a lasting impact on me and so, so many who heard his testimony.. I think often about his overt willingness to share the Gospel with countless others for many years. I look forward to reuniting with him soon 🙏 A GREAT AMERICAN at the highest level 🇺🇸.

To Family and Friends,

I had the deep privilege of getting to know Dan over the last three years through Trinity (i.e., Links Fellowship) at Cherokee. He became very dear to me. More than a few things have stuck with me about Dan over these past few years. One is the intensity with which he listened as someone was teaching Scripture. There was a riveted focus on hearing Christ speak to him as someone unpacked the Scriptures. Like everyone else who knew Dan, I am still in disbelief that I will have to wait to see him again in the new heavens and new earth! My deepest sympathies to the family. My heart is breaking for you, Elizabeth, and Danny. I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it is for you. We all know Dan’s heart, and we know he is in the loving arms of Jesus right now.  I am lifting you up right now for God to give you the peace that passes all understanding.

Dan has not only taken care of my family professionally for over 35 years; after we sustained a series of catastrophic losses in early 1990s, he lent us his continuing emotional and spiritual support that went far beyond his "work obligation" to emerge as friend and mentor over these past decades.  He truly lived a life of faithful servant. We shared the blessings of our spouses, children, and grandchildren, and always laughter. Dan is one of the best men I have ever known. 
Dan, I cannot imagine the depth of the loss for your family. I know you will be eternally watching over them, and the rest of us who knew and loved you- and we look forward to our reunions with you. Thank you for everything.

Words cannot express the sense of loss, while at the same time thanking Dan Whigham for his family, faith, leadership, inspiration, and friendship. Dan touched more lives than we will ever know. His friendship and enthusiasm on and off the golf course was contagious - we miss Dan.  Praying for comfort for Beka, Danny, Elizabeth, and family.
