

David Small, 85, of Dunwoody, died July 15, 2016. Born in Chicago and raised in Miami, Dave was a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Miami School of Medicine. He served as a Captain in the United States Army. Dave practiced Ophthalmology in Pompano Beach, Florida for 29 years and was recognized by the Florida Society of Ophthalmology for his work with needy patients. After moving to Dunwoody in 1993 Dave volunteered with the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation where he provided eye exams to needy patients. A Life Master in Bridge, he was a member of The Atlanta Duplicate Bridge Club and a Class A rated chess player. Dave was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He was married to his beloved wife Leona for 57 years who predeceased him. Dave is survived by his three sons Gregg, Joshua and Daniel; grandchildren, Jennifer, Chelsea, Leila, Gideon and Amirit; and sister, Leona Coleman and her husband Ralph Coleman. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Unity Walk or the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 10 AM at Arlington Memorial Park.
