Dianne Hutchins Sherrill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, passed away on October 16, 2025, after a courageous 20-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 78 years old.
A native Atlantan, Dianne was born at Grady Hospital and raised in East Point, Georgia. She was a proud graduate of Russell High School, where she met the love of her life, Thomas Sherrill. During her time at Russell, Dianne was a proud member of the football drill team as a Russellette and was later honored as the Journal Cup Winner, a recognition awarded to a senior who best exemplified academic excellence, leadership, and character. She carried these same qualities with her throughout her life.
Dianne and Tom were blessed with 59 years of marriage rooted in love, partnership, and a shared joy for life. They built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring devotion to one another.
Dianne dedicated over 35 years to Arbor Montessori School, where she served as Business Administrator. Her vision and dedication were instrumental in securing the school’s financial standing and helping establish its first permanent home. This strong leadership created an enduring legacy and demonstrated her quiet strength and unwavering commitment to Montessori education.
Dianne and Tom were members of both Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Atlanta. She was an active volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, where she served both as a caseworker, working directly with families in need, and as treasurer, helping steward the organization’s mission with compassion and care.
Even as she faced the challenges of Parkinson’s, Dianne remained strong, positive, and deeply engaged with the people and moments that mattered most. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family, dancing with her husband, and doting on her grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Tom Sherrill; her loving daughters, Alison Sherrill (Chris Crow) and Jessica Sherrill (Garrett Cook); and her adored grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rick Hutchins (Pam Hutchins); her sisters, Freddie Phillips (Terry Phillips) and Deb Hutchins; along with a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom she cherished deeply. Dianne was a constant source of love, encouragement, and connection across generations, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate to be part of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Arbor Montessori School or to the St Vincent de Paul Society.
