Dom had a lively and amusing spirit. More than just an avid fan, he thrived on football. His love for the sport shined most brightly in his mentoring of young kids, as a football coach for Sandy Springs Youth Sports. Another favorite of his was to rally and root for the LSU Tigers and the Atlanta Falcons.
He was baptized at New Saint James and was very active in the church until he moved away from Monore, LA. We talked frequently about heaven and his love for God.
He was also a fighter. Dom served his country as a Specialist E-4 in The United States Army for over a decade. While stationed in Hawaii, he attended the University of Hawaii. There he furthered his education in business, adding to his coursework at Grambling State University.
His education and foundation in discipline and hard work fueled his career with IBM in Talent Acquisition. His passion was helping others do more than “gain employment.” Dom’s mission was to assist individuals with advancing their careers. He was part of leading-edge technology and recruiting practices and processes that helped colleagues in healthcare and IT connect and advance through IBM’s success. He was dedicated to and engaged with those he served professionally and in his community.
But above all, Dom loved his girls. He gave his heart to God and his family. Dom is survived by his wife, Monique P. Scott and young daughters, Taylor C. Scott and Connor H. Scott. Also surviving are his parents, Marilyn and Willie Hunter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 5 to 7 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be Friday, March 20, 2020 at 11 o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
