

Mr. Francis "Frank" Small, 86, of Sandy Springs died on Friday, the 11th of July 2014. One of 12 children born to Kieran and Emma Small of McSherrystown, PA., he attended Annunciation grade school and Delone Catholic High School where he was a two time varsity letterman in football and basketball. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served at Pearl Harbor, HI. After completing military service, he attended Gettysburg College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1952. Frank was a 30 year employee of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He wed Elizabeth Louise Ford on June 30th 1951 and they had four children. Frank, as he was known to family and friends, was a man of many and varied interests ranging from Boy Scout leader, little league coach, pioneering skateboarder, volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul, 68-year member of the Knights of Columbus as well as an usher and communicant at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Sandy Springs. Frank was also a 30 year member of the North Metro Georgia Tech Club where he was a director of the Lunch Bunch, as well as a very active and enthusiastic Georgia Tech volunteer. Frank was a beloved patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth F. Small; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Jon Satterfield, Catherine and David Brim, Steven and Taryn Small, Dave and Laurain Small; 6 grandchildren; and sister, Louise Heiser. A memorial mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 15th at eleven o' clock at All Saints Catholic Church, Dunwoody with burial on Wednesday, July 16th at one o'clock at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 2050-C Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, GA 30341, 678-892-6160.
