George Peter Stathopoulos

George was born on March 28, 1934 in Vounargo, Elis in Greece to Peter and Eleni Stathopoulos. He had three siblings, Nikko, Thanasis, and Asimo.

George graduated from Panteion University in Athens and studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and served in the Royal Hellenic Air Force.

George married Helen Stathopoulos (née Romantzas), in Athens, Greece, before they both emigrated to the United States in 1968. George became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1973.

In the United States, George spent his career as an executive with Olympic Airways, the national airline of Greece, where he had the opportunity to travel extensively around the world. George spent his career in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta.

George’s many interests included history, politics, economics, law, Hellenism, and soccer.

George is survived by his wife Helen, his son Peter Stathopoulos and his wife Kristi, his son Alexander Stathopoulos and his wife Paola, and his grandchildren Emily, Chloe and Manfredi. George is also survived by his siblings Nikko, Thanasis, and Asimo.

Funeral services for George will be conducted at 12 noon, on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Of The Annunciation located at 2500 Clairmont Rd NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
