Hal George Eckard

Hal George Eckard, age 82 of Sandy Springs died peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 13, 1934. His dedication and commitment to his wife of 57 years and his family was his life. Hal was a truly selfless man, not only to his family but to his faith. He was a man of kindness, generosity, wisdom, and compassion. Hal was a proud Musketeer! He graduated from Xavier High School and Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon graduating from college, Hal began a career in pharmaceutical sales. He became an entrepreneur, starting his own successful generic pharmaceutical company in 1983 called The Eckard Group. Hal was dedicated to helping others through his involvement in the Catholic Church, the Dreamers, and the Community Action Center. Hal, you left an incredible legacy and touched more people than you will ever know. Thank you for who you were and will forever be to us. Until we meet again! Mr. Eckard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Eckard; children, Laurie Rummel (Jeff), Mike Eckard (Kathy), Amy Adams (Scott), Chris Intile (John), Susan Cruikshank (Clarke), Lisa Baxter; grandchildren, Jeff and Emily Rummel, Hali and Ryan Eckard, Kyle Walter; Collin Adams, Rachel and Luke Intile, Ian Cruikshank, Maggie and Ella Baxter; and great grandson, Easton Walter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Xavier University, 3800 Victory Pkwy., Cincinatti, OH 45207 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3715 Northside Pkwy., Atlanta, GA 30327. The family will receive friends Monday, September 12, 2016 from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11 o’clock at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mount Vernon Hwy., Dunwoody, GA 30338 with The Rev. Larry Hehman and The Rev. Msgr. Hugh M. Marren as The Celebrants. A reception will follow the Mass at the church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
