

His passing is mourned by beloved wife, his two sons as well as two granddaughters, three great grandchildren, a sister, nieces, and nephews, and a large circle of close friends.
Herb was born in New York City and attended Brooklyn College. He was married to Sheila Brennan of that city in 1953. He was employed by General Foods Corp. and was transferred to Atlanta in 1961. His sons attended schools and colleges in the Atlanta area. He formed his own Food Brokerage business in 1964. He was active in the food business and was President of the Atlanta Food Broker's Association and President of the Atlanta Frozen Food Association. He and his wife Sheila maintained a summer home at Lake Lanier for 25 years. He retired from his business in 1991. In 2002 they moved to Marco Island, Florida and kept a home in Alpharetta, GA.
Herb's life was devoted to his family and his business. He was an avid golfer and a member of Druid Hills Country Club for 35 years. His quick wit and sense of humor earned him many friends whose company he treasured. He shared his wife's respect for human life and was involved in organizations which where supportive of their views.
His family includes his beloved wife Sheila Mary Mallon, sons David Mallon of Long Beach, CA and Brian T. Mallon of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters Lauren Norwood and Erin Mallon of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren Davis, Jaden, and Antonia; sister, Shirley Dubin of Mishawauka, Indiana; nieces Judy Mauro of Hollywood, FL and Lynn Ritchlin of Sanibel, FL.
Visitation at H.M. Patterson-Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 will take place this Thursday evening, September 22, 2011 from 5-8pm with a prayer vigil at 7:30pm.
The funeral mass will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at noon at St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Alpharetta conducted by Father Gilbert Exume. The burial follows immediately at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
