Jack was born in Atlanta on January 2, 1937 to John Fitten Glenn and Anne Alston Glenn. He attended E. Rivers Grammar School, Northside High School and graduated from Westminster. He then attended Georgia Tech, where he was a member of the SAE fraternity. Jack’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own business, Glenncast Inc., in Acworth, Georgia in 1984, a community in which he was very involved.
Jack had a passion for classic automobiles, which he loved to build, restore, and drive. He also enjoyed playing guitar with friends and family. He was a longtime member of the Piedmont Driving Club and East Lake Golf Club, where he was a spirited, if not always accurate, golfer.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jean Candler Glenn, his daughter, Jean Candler Glenn II, and his grandsons, John "Jack" Glenn Starke (Caroline) and Candler Arlin Starke. He is also survived by his brothers, Alston Glenn and Lewis Glenn. He was preceded in death by his son, John Fitten Glenn III, and his brother, Robert “Bob” Glenn.
A private graveside service will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the East Lake Foundation, St. Anne’s Episcopal Church/Missions, or Emory Eye Center in support of Macular Degeneration research.
Jack will be remembered for his wit, generous heart, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
