John Charles Short, 91, of Atlanta passed away on May 15, 2019. Mr. Short was born on July 4, 1927 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Leonard W. Short, Sr., and Rudicil W. Short, brother Leonard W. Short, Jr., and his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Hamlin Short.
Mr. Short served his country in The United States Navy in World War II and The Korean War. He was a graduate of Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. He had a 30-year career with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company and retired in 1991.
The Shorts were residents of Dunwoody, Georgia for 32 years and were active members of Dunwoody Baptist Church.
Mr. Short is survived by sons John Jr., Ed, and Steve; daughter-in-law Carole; grandchildren Austin, Mary Anne, Dylan, and Sara; great grandchildren Brooklyn and Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John Short to The Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his wife Shirley.
