I just learned of your passing while reminiscing about Uncle JB, the Hand Trading Company and all the good times enjoyed at Grandma Davis and Uncle JB’s home in Pelham.  My parents were Katherine and Perry Davis. You were held in high esteem by our family and, throughout the years, were praised for your many accomplishments and service to our great country.  My sincere condolences to your family,  friends and loved ones. Rest in Paradise, Patriot!

My dearest Uncle Beale, 

My memories are quite found of you, although I haven’t seen you in many, many years. You are my namesakes baby brother, and the patriarch of the Davis family. I often think about you and regret not visiting you more throughout our lives. I will always hold dear my childhood memories of visiting you in Georgia, our family reunions at Mill Pond, catfish dinners at the Homecoming, visiting with relatives, laughing and telling stories of your younger years, your infectious smile and how much you adored your sister, my grandmother. 

You accomplished so much in your life and I am honored to call you family. May you rest peacefully with your sister now and know you will be missed and always honored .

Jonah Beale , you were and are  my hero. you are   the reason I went to North Georgia College, and on to become an Army Aviator.  I remember standing in your room at Uncle JB and Aunt Elmer's house in Pelham, just standing, looking,  and not touching anything but thinking how much I want to be like you.  I never told you that, but I  so much regret that I did not tell you.  you  and I were in Viet Nam in 1963, you flying Mohawks and me flying  CH-21 Helicopters, one day you were  flying in the same area near Quang Ngai that I was in and you came up beside me in your Mohawk, droppedvyour landing gear, flaps and slowed to 80 knots, my speed and wagged your wings and waved at me. That was a thrill to me.  I regret so much that I did not stay in touch over the years.  I love you J. B.  even though you told some of your Army friends that you had two first cousins who married each other !!!  It is true though!!

Hard to imagine a life without our precious Papa. I will never forget your wisdom, humor and love of family but most of all will miss the sound of your voice and the unconditional love you showed to each and every one us. Thank you for loving us as your own and cherishing our mother. Godspeed!

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy Davis; daughters, Suzanne Carswell (Scott), Stephanie Davis, Stacy Howlin (Kurt), Cindy Woodward; son, Paul Stewart (Kelly); grandchildren, Celeste Carswell, Courtney Carswell, Abby Woodward, Katie Woodward and Draven Sonnon. His son-in-law, Norman “Woody" Woodward preceded him in death.
