

Joyce Gilbert-Barnett, 78, of Dunwoody, GA passed peacefully at home on July 2, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Theodore Blumenthal and Lena Talan Blumenthal and sister to the late Dr. Irvin Blumenthal and David Blumenthal. Born November, 26, 1932 in Royston, GA, she graduated from the University of Georgia where she served as President of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. She also served, at one time, as President of the Brockton, MA chapter of Hadassah. The majority of her professional life was spent managing her twin brothers’ Atlanta interior design firm, David, Inc. A devoted opera and theater lover, Joyce had season tickets to numerous Atlanta productions for many years. She loved to travel and was an avid gardener and bridge player. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Cobb, brother, Sol Blumenthal, nieces, Dr. Lisa Blue-Baron, Linda Bailit, and Dr. Ellen Wolfe, nephews, Dr. Richard Blue, Dr. James Blue, John Blue, and Dr. Richard Klein, and her beloved cat Sweetie Pie. Funeral service to be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at H.M Patterson’s Arlington Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution in her memory to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 6, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at H.M Patterson’s Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
