

Linda Taylor Clark, 100, died August 2, 2016. She was a native South Carolinian, daughter of Emanuel L. Taylor and Nettie Goodwin Taylor. She was a graduate of Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was a member of Northside Drive Baptist Church, an ordained deacon, had served as President of the Women of the Church, a Sunday School Teacher, and was a non-rotating member of the Missions Committee. She was a founder and honorary Director of Fledglings, Inc., an organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders, and served on the Citizens Panel of Fulton County Juvenile Court. She had served on the Board of the Atlanta Baptist Association, The Atlanta Union Mission, The Metropolitan Y.W.C.A., and as a docent for the Shutze Collection at the Atlanta History Center. She was a member of the High Museum of Art, The Atlanta History Center, the Monday History Study Group, and The P.E.O. Sisterhood. She served Meals on Wheels at Palmer House, taught Laubach Method of reading to adults, typed books for the almost blind, served on the Church Women United Board, worked with women in jail and at the City Prison Farm in Atlanta. Her philosophy was Family, Church, and Community.
Linda was predeceased by her husband of forty-four years, Stephen R. “Red” Clark and her son, Stephen R. Clark, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Clark Lester, Leesville, South Carolina, one granddaughter, Carolyn Lester Swistek, four grandsons, David Koch, Charles Koch, Taylor Koch, Justin Clark, one step-grandson, Kenneth Yarbrough, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; sister, Mrs. Thomas Clark, Punta Gorda, Florida.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30328. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Northside Drive Baptist Church, Dr. James Lamkin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Drive, Atlanta, GA 30305; Atlanta Community Food Bank.
