Mary E. Hanes, 96 of Brookhaven, passed away March 9, 2026. Mrs. Hanes was a life-long resident of Atlanta. She was a long-time member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church where she had worked for many years in their library. Mrs. Hanes was a hard worker and was very proud of her work as an executive secretary for companies such as Robertson Humphrey and Kimberly Clark. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Le’Nard Hanes and is survived by her son, George L. Hanes (Karen); daughter, Nancy McKay (Drew); grandchildren, Ashley Nix (Chris), Jessica Kidd (Matt), Jennifer McKay, Kristin Glinski (Chris); and great grandchildren, Tristan Nix, Trevor Nix, Hollis Kidd, Brently Kidd, Ambree Kidd, Arya Duncan, Evelyn Duncan, Lainey Glinski, Liam Glinski. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Funeral services followed by a reception will be Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 11 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Entombment will be at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
