Mary Louise Lineberger Roberts was born June 8, 1935, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Archibald Caleb Lineberger, who was in textiles, and Lillian Evans Nunn, from Mississippi. As one of five children, she led a happy childhood in Belmont, North Carolina, with a large extended family. After graduating from the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and attending Sweet Briar College, she moved to Atlanta on her own in 1960 and lived in Colonial Homes. In 1961, she met the love of her life and future husband, William Thomas Roberts, Jr., of Fairburn and Atlanta. They were married in Belmont in 1963. They moved to Brookwood Hills, where they began to raise three boys, Tommy, Archie, and Harrison, who were her pride and joy. Weezie’s love for and dedication to her family were perhaps her most defining qualities. On February 2, 2013, Weezie and Tom celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida. She died Thursday, August 22, of complications related to a stroke, surrounded by Tom, the boys and their wives, and her dear sister Jane. She is survived by her husband Tom; her children Tommy and Julie Roberts and their daughters Mackenzie and Lili; Archie and Vanessa Roberts and their children Pierce, Chase, and Paige; Harrison and Brittany Roberts and their sons Wyatt and Archie; her siblings Dee Dee and Peter McKay, of Charlotte; Harriette Steele of Charlotte; Jane and John Huffard of Atlanta; Arch and Anne Lineberger of Belmont; and her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will be greeting visitors on Sunday, August 25, from 4-6, at H.M. Patterson & Son–Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, N.E., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. The funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, August 26, at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside service to follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
