Maureen Ann Mischke

September 1, 1947 - January 2, 2026

Maureen Mischke (Zenner) passed away January 2, 2026, of natural causes while recovering from heart surgery at a hospital near her Marietta home. She was born September 1, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur John Zenner Jr. and Alice Zenner (Foster).

Maureen is preceded in death by her parents Arthur John Jr. & Alice, brother Arthur John III (Mary) and brother John Arthur as well as her grandparents.

Maureen was the second of seven children and was loved by them all. She will be remembered for her grace and compassion and keeping a positive and energetic disposition with her family and friends. With an always great sense of humor, she made life fun and enjoyable. She possessed a fierce love of playing board and card games. She was very competitive as most sisters and brothers can attest. She was very good at Scrabble, Monopoly, Rummy and other board games and had a knack for winning. She loved spending time shopping and going to lunch with her sisters and friends. She also enjoyed bridge and spending time with life-long friends she made in Georgia. At home, she loved watering and caring for her flowers and enjoying their beauty while relaxing on her sun porch.

She grew up on the southwest side of Chicago, attending St Joseph and St. Anne grammar school and Lourdes high school. While in high school, Maureen volunteered as a candy striper cheering up patients at a local hospital.

Maureen relocated to Marietta, GA. not long after marrying her adoring husband, Donald Mischke. Don and Maureen were married for 48 years and, when not running their software company, enjoyed traveling and dinner with family and friends. Maureen has two children, Dan Albrecht and Dawn Wallace (Albrecht), who were the love of her life. Maureen was more than a wonderful mom, but she was also a great friend who supported and encouraged Dan and Dawn’ through life’s journeys.

Maureen is survived by her husband Donald Mischke, son Dan Albrecht (Susan), daughter Dawn Wallace and granddaughter Faith (Brennan) who was Maureen's greatest joy; Siblings: Paul Zenner (Sharon), Allen Zenner (Audrey), Janelle Barcelona (Guy), Guy Zenner (Barb), Mary Jo Fry (Frank), and many nieces and nephews who loved and treasured her.

A prayer service and mass will be held 11am on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3401 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30068. A Celebration of Life luncheon will immediately follow the mass.
