Michael Richard O'Neal

Michael “Mike” Richard O’Neal, age 71, of La Jolla, California, formerly of Atlanta and Chicago, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Mr. O’Neal was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. Mike applied himself diligently in life and enjoyed a prosperous career, beginning with home construction in his early years before working over forty years in Finance and Banking.

Mike loved life and all that it had to offer and reaped the benefits of his hard work and dedication. He enjoyed travelling to Europe, visiting wonderful towns and restaurants, and swimming and diving in the ocean. Mike was an avid golfer, having visited many courses. More casually, Mike loved snow skiing, playing tennis, hiking and camping, oil painting, and bicycling on beautiful days.

Most of all, Mike was a loving father whose priorities and dedication were always towards his family and children. Mr. O’Neal is survived by his son, Riley Michael O’Neal; daughter, Josette Brown; grandson, Beau Lusk; brothers, Dan O’Neal (Stephanie), Bruce O’Neal, John O’Neal (Dee); and sisters, Carol O’Neal Campbell (Joe), and Susan O’Neal. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Red Cross. The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1 o’clock followed by a funeral service at 2 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
