

Mildred Wright, age 100, of Atlanta, GA passed away on July 22, 2017. She was the oldest of six children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wesley Lane in Richmond, VA where she grew up and was educated. After finishing school, she went to work for F.W. Woolworth Company where she was to meet her future husband, (Holland) Boyd Wright, who was employed by the same company. They were married for more than 63 years before his death in 2001. Through the years, they moved many times with Woolworth, including to Atlanta and New Jersey. When Mr. Wright retired, they returned to Atlanta in 1976. Mildred was a long-time member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church where she served on the Altar Guild and was a member of the Friendship Class. She was a 64-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She loved her family and her home. She is also predeceased by her two sons, Dr. Gary Wright of Ocala, FL and Thomas Wright ofFriendswood, Texas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Keller Carlock of Atlanta, GA, daughter-in-law, Charlotte Wright White of Ocala; grandchildren, Kell Carlock, Kevin Carlock (Anne), Lane Howard (Clark), all of Atlanta; Ashley Scharpf (Gregory) of Colts Neck, NJ, Courtney Jones (Bo) of St. Cloud, FL, Holland Wright (Margaret Laurie) of Albany, GA; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris McDearmon (Guy), Jessie Dyson of Amherst, VA, and nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be Monday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, with Reverends Bill Britt and Betsy Lunz officiating. There will be a private interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor her memory do so by contributing to the Friends of Music at PRUMC, 3180 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30305 or to Crossroads Hospice, 1957 Lakeside Parkway, Suite 500, Tucker, GA. 30084.
