Nancy B. Esterly MD

Born to Paul and Tanya Burton of Mt Vernon, NY in 1935. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Smith College in 1956, and her M.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1960. Dr. Esterly had a long and successful medical career during which she impacted the lives of many patients and colleagues. She was greatly respected for her dedication to her craft and education of future medical professionals. Actively engaged in sharing her knowledge and learning more about her field; she authored or contributed to over 350 publications. She also had global impact on her profession as the Editor-in-Chief on the ‘Journal of Pediatric Dermatology’ for over 23 years. She was known as a valued mentor, particularly to women. Throughout her career she was the recipient of many awards for excellence. In her time away from work, Nancy enjoyed music, cooking, knitting, camping, and spending time with family, friends, and beloved pets. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Esterly and is survived by her children, Sarah (Robert) Esterly Devany, Anne Esterly, John (Kirsten) Esterly, Henry (Denice) Esterly; grandchildren, Caroline Devany, John Devany, Ethan Esterly, Isabel Esterly, Paul Esterly, Lilyana Esterly; and sister, Marjorie (Sidney) Goldman.
