Born and raised in Hattiesburg, Paul graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2001. In 2005, he moved to Atlanta, the city he quickly grew to love and proudly called home. Over the course of twenty years, Paul built a successful and respected career as a property manager, known for his dedication, steadiness, and genuine care for the people he worked with.
Paul was a natural storyteller with an unforgettable sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh, bringing warmth into every room, and connecting with others through his sharp wit and perfectly timed stories.
Paul’s Catholic faith played an important role in his life, grounding him and shaping the compassion, loyalty, and generosity he showed to others.
His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Liz Falkenhainer Blackwell, and their beloved son, Luke Henry Blackwell—Paul’s greatest pride, and his lasting legacy. He is also survived by his mother, Karen Kern; his sister, Alicia Martin (John); his nephew, Maddox Martin; and his many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Joann Kern, whom he cherished deeply.
A passionate fan of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves, Paul found joy in cheering on his teams and collecting memorabilia that reflected his lifelong love of sports. He loved to travel, explore new places, and share those experiences with the people he cared about most.
Paul will be remembered for his joyful spirit, his humor, his steadfast faith, and the deep love he poured into his family and friends. His impact will continue in the lives he touched and through the son he adored.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m., at H.M. Patterson & Son – Arlington Chapel. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a trust fund established for Luke Blackwell. Make Zelle donations to [email protected].
