Paul Morris Turcotte was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on June 30, 1923, the son of Archibald and Theresa Turcotte. He grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from East Senior High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the onset of World War II, principally flying in B-17 and other bomber aircraft, and was always proud to have had the opportunity to serve his country. After the war, Paul attended Bryant College part-time but elected not to join the family laundry business. He instead became a Coca-Cola route salesman, driving an iconic Coca-Cola truck on a route through a variety of ethnic neighborhoods in Providence. Paul loved to talk and meet people, and always reminisced about how much he liked this job because it let him talk to all the small shopkeepers on his route. Paul’s subsequent career in the soft drink industry saw him move to New Orleans, Florida, Texas and Arkansas before settling in Atlanta. He had a second career in commercial real estate, which he enjoyed in large part because it gave him the chance to meet many new friends. After retirement he became a bit bored, so he took a part-time position at Agnes Scott College, which he greatly enjoyed, and he had a chance to make many friends at Agnes Scott. Paul was a Georgia master gardener, and always loved digging in the garden. He and Vera, his wife of 63 years, travelled the world in his retirement years and Paul loved the experience of travel and seeing new places and meeting many new friends. He especially enjoyed his time in London, Tokyo and Bangkok. Paul passed away peacefully on October 12th in Atlanta with Vera and his son, Peter, at his side. He will be greatly missed. Interment services will be private. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in Paul’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, Attn: Donor Services, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
