

Perry Thomas Hicks, Jr. (Tom) passed away from heart failure on Tuesday, the 23rd of August 2016. Mr. Hicks was born in Fairburn, Georgia on the 18th of September 1927. His family moved to Alpharetta, where he was a graduate at Milton High School and President of his senior class. After high school, Mr. Hicks served in the U. S. Army in the occupation of Japan. He then attended Georgia Tech, and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1951. Mr. Hicks then served in the U. S. Air Force. Following the Air Force, he accepted a position as an electrical engineer with Robert and Company where he became head of the Electrical Department. Mr. Hicks spent his entire career with Robert and Company until retirement. Following retirement, he enjoyed gardening and international travel. Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Gellerstedt Hicks of Atlanta; sons, Tom Hicks and Richard Hicks both of Brookhaven; brothers, Henry Hicks of Roswell, George Hicks of Woodstock; sister, Jeannine Hicks Oeser of Alpharetta; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted on Sunday, the 28th of August at two o’clock in the afternoon at Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Drive, NW, Atlanta, GA 30305 with a reception and time of fellowship will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northside Drive Baptist Church. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Friday, the 26th of August from seven until nine o’clock in the evening at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
