Pierce was raised by his paternal grandmother. He adored his “grandmama” and had no idea that indoor plumbing or central heat would’ve made their life easier.
1954 was a pivotal year for 17-year-old Pierce: he graduated from Fulton High School, married his sweetheart Carmen, and started a new job at Superior Printing Company. Incredibly, Carmen and Superior would remain the anchors of his life for 65 years!
With Carmen, he made a home and family he cherished. Superior provided the place for his creative talents and work ethic to thrive as he worked his way from bindery department to sales, eventually purchasing the small print shop in 1995. His passion and dedication led to a loyal customer following and successful lifelong career.
After being widowed, he had the very good fortune to reconnect with high school friend Elaine Owens. Their time together was positively joyful. Her devotion, care and love made his final years the happiest they could possibly be.
Pierce made everyone feel special and important. We loved him for his delightful and mischievous humor, his kindness, dignity, integrity… and for always being the best-dressed man in the room!
He was pre-deceased by wife Carmen and sons Kevin and Korey. He’s survived by daughter Risa Matthew (Graham), brothers Harry White and Johnny Morris, grandchildren Michelle Morris, Jennefer Stephens (Jeremy), Sam Matthew (Dara), Chelsea Pierce (Brandon), and 14 great-grandchildren.
