Richard Lee Lampkin, 96, of Atlanta, died peacefully at his home on February 1, 2017. Mr. Lampkin served honorably with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II where he piloted missions over "The Hump" in the China-Burma-India Theater. He had a passion for flying and founded the FBO Chamblee Aviation at Peachtree Dekalb Airport. Chamblee Aviation was eventually purchased by Epps Aviation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adele Lucille Lampkin and his son, Thomas Lampkin. Survivors include his son, Chad Lampkin; daughters, Carol Masterson (Mark), C. Jane Burrows, Sally Bowen (Coll), Sue Blakeslee (Ken); 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and brother, John Chadwick Lampkin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
