

Senneth Hester Ruffin, passed on to be with the almighty God Our Father, Tuesday December 18, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. Her death was rather sudden and unexpected, caused by Lung and Heart complications. She was born November 8, 1924. Senneth was the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs John W Hester of Milledgeville and Macon, Georgia. Surviving her are 2 sisters, Sara Merriman and Sue Mckinney, 2 brothers Robert Hester and Carlton Hester, of Georgia and sister Eleanor Russell of Florida. She grew up and graduated from high school in Baldwin County, GA (Milledgeville). Senneth had a passion to expand her horizons by meeting new people and getting involved in new activities. After graduation form high school, she moved to Macon, GA. Where she started working for the Warner Robbins Air Force Base as a secretary. During WWII she was offered the opportunity of transferring to Washington, D.C. to work as secretary in the Pentagon, for the US Navy. Soon after she arrived in Washington she met another young lady whose name was Doris Ruffin and they became life long friends. Doris had a brother, Leonard, who was serving on a U.S. Navy Ship in what was referred to as "McArthur's Navy", involved in leading troops on the New Guinea Coast. After Completing 2 years overseas, Leonard was given leave to come home. Senneth and Doris also went home, giving Leonard the opportunity of meeting Senneth. The outcome of that meeting brought forth 66 years and 10 months of a wonderful life together for Senneth and Leonard. They married and were blessed with a daughter Carole and a son Don. The immediate surviving family members are: Husband, Leonard Ruffin, daughter, Carole Ruffin White, Granddaughter Jennifer White Frey, great granddaughter Jewell Frey, great grandson Skylar Frey, grandson Justin White and his wife Rachel. Son, Don Ruffin, grandson James Ruffin, and granddaughter Heather Ruffin. In later years Senneth worked for the US Postal service where she retired after 20 years of service. Senneth was a dedicated christian woman, a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She has been a resident of Dunwoody North, Dunwoody, GA since 1965 and very involved in community service, she was active in Garden Club, love beautiful flowers and plants, she was also a very active Bridge player, love to entertain family and friends. She was an active member of Dunwoody Baptist Church since 1980. Funeral arrangements by H.M. Patterson & Son 173 Allen Rd N.E.; Sandy Springs, Georgia. Visitation at Funeral home will be Friday December 21, 2012, 7 P.M. until 8 P.M. Funeral service to be held at Dunwoody Baptist Church, Saturday December 22, 2012, 11A.M. visitation 12 P.M. service. Burial will be at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Rd, Canton, GA, on Monday December 24, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or Dunwoody Baptist Church missions Offering.
