Funeral services will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church in Hampton Cove, Alabama, on January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Michael Culvert officiating. A private burial will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Arlington Cemetery in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements, with H.M. Patterson & Son handling the interment.
Steve was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 2, 1956, to Nick and Helen Christopher and moved to Huntsville as a young child. He attended Grissom High School, graduating in 1974. Steve went on to earn a degree from the University of Alabama, where he pledged Kappa Alpha fraternity. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and practiced dentistry in the Atlanta area for eleven years prior to joining the Navy. During his time in Atlanta, Steve took multiple dental mission trips to Jamaica, Honduras and Mexico.
Steve proudly served as a dental officer in the United States Navy for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Captain in 2018. Following his military retirement, he completed his dental career at Limestone Correctional Facility.
Steve was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church and the senior fellowship group. Also, he served his community via the Hall of Heroes, Downtown Rescue Mission, and Visiting Veterans. Steve had a love of people as well as adventure, with his favorite hobbies including sailing and riding his motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Beth O’Callaghan Christopher; his sister, Lisa Christopher McMullen (Bill); in-laws, Rick O’Callaghan (Laura), Susan Easterlin (Billy), and Carol Crowley (Carl); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Helen Christopher.
