She is survived by her daughter, Annette Constandine and husband Louis; son, Jim Charvat and wife Rickie; grandchildren Julie and husband Jason, Patricia and husband Shining, and Courtney; and great-grandchildren Tyler and Sadie. Teddy, born on May 14, 1917, was a graduate of Northwestern University, earning a degree in Journalism. She became one of the first female reporters privileged to ride with police officers, reporting stories from the streets. She was also in charge of public relations for the Boys Club in Chicago. After the arrival of her children, Teddy transitioned to substitute teaching in Atlanta, GA and later became a successful real estate broker. Teddy and her first husband, Frank Charvat, were a driving force in the creation of the Pro-Mozart Society, a music appreciation group and youth scholarship program—she remained active in this organization until her death. She and her second husband Bill Thomas enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and on various cruises. As a long-acting and active member of Cherokee Country Club, she honed her golfing skills and was a member of the C-9. Additionally, she explored a wide array of interests via participation in a plethora of organizations, including: Investment club, Gourmet club, the English Speaking Union, the Atlanta History Center, and the Hellenic Organization. But above all, Teddy was a feisty, intelligent and loving woman who enjoyed entertaining, spending time with her family in Del Ray for July 4th, trying a new restaurant, and playing with her two great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd. in Sandy Springs, GA 30328, 404-851-9900 on Thursday, July 21 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
