

Thomas (Tom) Elliott Bell Jr., age 86, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on June 6, 2016. Tom was the loving husband of the late Patricia (Pat) Bell, son of the late Tom and Loretta Bell and brother of the late Ann Bell Handal. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Debi and Steve Cruickshank of Medfield, MA, son and daughter-in-law Joe (Buddy) and Vicky Bell of Sandy Springs, GA, daughters Trisha Walters of Richmond, VA and Marci Bell of Winter Park, FL; grandchildren Nick, Sean, and Dana Cruickshank, McKenna and Kellen Walters and Jessica Bell; and brother and sister-in-law Jim and Nona Bell of Atlanta, GA.
Tom was a 1948 graduate of Boys High, proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a 1955 graduate of Georgia Tech receiving both a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He was the President and owner of Automatic Controls Company from the time of his college graduation until his passing. Tom loved his family and friends dearly, enjoyed sailing and camping in his younger days, was a big supporter of Georgia Tech (Go Jackets!), his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) and his church, Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church. He lived a long, full life and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3 PM at H. M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 followed by a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations be made to Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church, 1015 East Rock Springs Road, Atlanta, GA 30306 and/or to his college fraternity (Fiji) made out to Gamma Tau, Inc., 1730 Mt. Vernon Road, Suite G, Dunwoody, GA 30338.
