

Thomas I-Yao Chen, 78 of Sandy Springs, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 20, 2011, and is now with his Lord and Savior. His vivacious, yet caring personality will be missed by many, including his wife Rose, daughter, Rosalind Chen Wright (John) of Edina, MN, son, Steven Thomas Chen (Celion) of Shanghai, China. He will be especially missed by his beloved grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Wright, and Jordan and Alexander Chen. He is survived by his brother John Chen (Joanna) of Huntley, IL and sister Annie Hsu of Dunwoody, GA.
Tom was born on January 18, 1933 in Shao Xing, China and graduated from St. John’s University with a BA and MBA in New York. His business career was varied, including Chemical Bank, States Marine Lines, Corning Glass Works and Singapore Land Company. He was a small business owner of Chinese Chef and spent the remainder of his career as a management consultant in China. He served as Secretary General to IBLAC in Shanghai, China for 20 years.
He and his wife Rose were married for 50 years, and shared a love of travel, gardening and their grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday 2 PM at Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, NE, Sandy Springs, GA with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at his visitation. Reception following immediately after the service. Private inurnment will take place on Monday at Arlington Memorial Park.
