Today is your birthday!  Happy Birthday! It is 1:18 am on your birthday and I just realized that it was your birthday.  

I hope you are happy and doing well in heaven.  Everyone at home misses you dearly!  Thank you for watching over us and your unending care. We have the fondest memories of our years together and wish you could still be with us in this new year.

We have a lot of activity going on in the house with my children growing older, Jordan is going to be four this August and Alex will be two by your anniversary this May.  I am busy with my new venture buying and repairing homes. I am still struggling with my weight.  I need to balance my life better.  Work consumes my waking hours and the kids eat away at the other half.  Celion is doing well and is slowly acclimating to the lifestyle here and would like to come to peace with the big changes in her life since she has come to America and has had to give up her life in China.  Please help her with that.  Great news! Mother accepted Jesus Christ on her recent trip to see Rosalind.  We are so happy for her!  She is reading her bible every day  and is quite studious, she has even joined BSF!  Mother wishes that you would come to her in a dream or give her a sign every now and then.  I know that our well being is a constant reminder of your love and whole life efforts to provide and take care of your family.  Jordan mentions you in her prayers every night at bedtime.  Alex will kiss your picture whenever we hand it to him.  They are so very sweet and cute.  They get along very well.  You would enjoy being in their lives and watching them grow.  Rosalind is doing well with her family and I am sure will keep you updated in her prayers!

There are so many times where I wish you were still with us, yet I am very happy that your body is now resting and you have a better quality of life even though you aren't here.  I love you so very much!

I am so saddened by the news of Tom's unexpected passing and I'm sorry that I had lost contact with him in recent years. Someone led me to believe that you had returned to China. How shocked I was when I googled his name to learn that I missed reconnecting with Tom and that you've been here all along. When I worked with Tom on the original packaging for his Chinese Chef products his dynamic enthusiasm, his quick wit, and his hearty laugh were always inspirational; he was a joy to be around. I will forever remember Tom as one of those very rare, truly good guys. Wishing you comfort and peace.

I totally understand how you feel now since both Lena and I had been in the same situation as you.  The sudden passing of a loved one is the hardest thing that I had to deal with.  It feels that there's no closure.  To this date, I still dream of my dad and wish I had a chance to say goodbye.  But knowing that he's in heaven comforts us.  Thoughts and prayers with you all. I was shocked and saddened to learn upon my return from Colorado that Tom was no longer with us! From the e-mail this was clearly an unexpected event.
 
It was certainly my good fortune to have known and worked with Tom at States Marine. Very smart, very perceptive and very capable. Yes, yes but also a good guy and fun to be around. There is no question that he was very instrumental in our accomplishing specific goals at the company. There is no doubt in my mind that he was helpful and brightened the lives of everybody that had an opportunity to know him. We had been in touch over the last couple of years and it was clear to me that he was the same Tom. I always enjoyed his humor and hearty laugh.

Dear Rose and the family,
We are sorry to learn that Thomas has passed away. Though we did not know him for too long, we were impressed by his humor and generosity. We remember the trip we went together in China, though he could not walk to the hills he loved to be with us. The Tea Pot Museum that he donated to Shanghai in the Confucius Temple will remind us of his love to the Chinese culture and the people. We think Thomas has lived a wonderful life and he made a lot of differences to other people. We are honored to know Thomas.

Mona and i will very much miss Tom.  I know very few people that i enjoyed being with more than Tom.  He always seemed to have an insight into whatever was going on.  I admired how he was so successful in business yet seemed to not forget his family and friends.  I will miss him very, very much!

Please let your mother know how sorry I am for her loss.  Both of your parents were incredibly kind to me.  I met them at church and would look for them each week.  In our few short moments together, they always brightened my life.  It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen them.  Perhaps they changed churches or the time the attended.  I would love to reconnect with Rose, if even for a cup of tea.

He often spoke about the love he had for his family and we would share pleasantries about our families such as: Weddings and Grandchildren stories.  Tom will be missed but never forgotten. I know I will miss him and I will often smile when he is remembered.

David and I are so sad to hear of Tom’s passing!    Knowing what a fine, outgoing man that he is, your  family will miss him terribly.  He’s the type of man that brings a smile to your face when he walks in the room!  We enjoyed our time with him and Rose when they were in our Starting Point group.   They really were the joy of the group!  Always eager to join in the conversation and very thoughtful about all that we discussed. I was always eager to hear what Tom had to say!  I treasure the blue and white Chinese plate that they gave me at the end of the 10 weeks.  It’s displayed on a stand in our foyer.  

We will be praying for you all.  I pray that God will give you comfort through his spirit and through friends and family.  And I pray that you will be able to bandage the hole that Tom’s passing leaves with lots of good memories and smiles of your sweet times with him.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Tom Chen, through my friends Peter Schmidt and Bill Leslie. I have known Tom since the 1980's while I was at Lockwood Greene. Also my son and I had a wonderful dinner with him in Beijing some years ago. He was a friendly, wise, sophisticated, and a true professional.My sincerest condolences to the family.

Tom's energy, optimism, curiosity, thoughtfulness, and limitless knowledge made him a delightful friend.  He achieved success and universal respect in spite of incredible personal challenges; a life story that would make a great movie script.  We will miss you, Tom

I know how much Uncle Thomas meant to my father, Thomas Shih.  He always spoke about him fondly and I am grateful and appreciative that my husband Ralph, had the opportunity to meet him in person during a business trip to China a couple of years ago.
