Timothy "Tim" C. Wellons

Timothy C. Wellons of Dunwoody, GA passed away on Friday May 18, 2018 at the age of 65. Tim is preceded in death by his parents C. LaVerne and Lucy Wellons. He is survived by his wife Sylvia of 26 years, four children Josephine, Rosie, Sarah and Paul, his 8 grandchildren Amanda, Joseph, Sophia, Ava, George, Sylvia, Mia, and William “Buddy” plus one more grandchild any day now. He was the youngest of his siblings with brother Stephen and sister Susan.

Tim was not a jack of all trades, he was a master of many. His work and anything he crafted was built to last. As a hobby, he lived up to his middle name of Carpenter making beautiful wood keepsakes for his family and a treasured wooden cradle for his grandchildren with each name engraved. When Tim retired from his career as a Network Engineer, he partnered with Sylvia in managing their real estate investments. He was the best plumber, electrician, painter, landscaping landlord in town.

Tim was dedicated to helping others and being an environmentally responsible citizen. His preferred form of transportation was either his bicycle or his feet. He could be spotted around town daily riding his bike with an American Flag flying behind him. On occasion, he would fly a big yellow flag he made himself for his bike, it read “Put Some Fun Between Your Legs” One of his proudest projects was building his own rain barrel system for maintaining their impressive organic garden. The soil of the compost at The Wellons’ home was unrivaled. He saved water indoors and out with one of Tim’s favorite mottos, “if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.” His latest project was installing solar panels in their Dunwoody home and he made sure not to miss the opportunity to share his efforts on Facebook encouraging others to be environmentally conscious, and maybe to brag a little.

Tim was a hot and spicy kind of guy. He was known for his cayenne waffles and carrot cake with a kick. His favorite restaurant was El Torero where he was a regular with the love of his life, Sylvia. He often raved about Sylvia’s cooking and he did his best to pitch in and develop his own cooking skills.

Tim’s biggest fans called him grandpa. He taught them to ride bikes, water ski, fish, drive a boat, and play all sorts of old school games like dominoes. He built zip lines and swings and let them work in his workshop, even making keys for tenants, Buddy's favorite. Along with all the fun stuff, he made sure to teach the rules and responsibilities that come with the fun. “Call Grandpa” was the go to phrase for homework help and how-to advice.

Tim's family loved and appreciated him dearly. We will gather and celebrate his life on Saturday, June 2nd at three o’clock in the afternoon H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel. In honor of Tim, please donate to Life South where he frequently made blood donations throughout his life to help others and please remember to watch for bikers, or better yet put some fun between your legs and ride one.
