Virginia Cartey Andrews

Virginia Cartey Andrews, age 89 and a Native Atlantan, died March 5, 2017. Mrs. Andrews had a military background and career. During her career she worked with the Army at Ft. McPherson and the Air Force at Omni Engineers at Dobbins Air Force Base where she earned many awards. She was married to the late Colonel Charles L. Andrews and they served with NATO in Paris for 3 years which allowed them to extensively tour Europe and the world. In addition to her husband Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenny Lynn McGee who was the former 1968 Miss Atlanta and 1972 Miss Georgia. She is survived by her son-in-law, Wayne McGee; grandsons, Matthew McGee and his wife, Jessica, Weston McGee and his wife, Veronica; and great grandchildren, Asa McGee, Carys McGee, Shepard McGee, Jasper McGee, Ilinca McGee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, www.verabradley.org. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11 o’clock with the family receiving friends beginning at 10 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
