Wendy was born in Tennessee to Robert Jay Winter and Vernetta Mildred Winter. Wendy spent much of her youth in Wheaton, Maryland, and the DC area, exploring nature, enjoying concerts, and building memories she embraced later in life while reconnecting with her friends and loves. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1973 and followed her parents to Atlanta, Georgia, where she met her late husband, William (Billy) D. Liddy of Camden, New York. Wendy began a career working in banking that she continued until the time of her passing. She often reminisced about the excitement of working in Downtown Atlanta in the 1980s. In 1986, she had her daughter Cassaundra (Cassie) Alice. Throughout her time with Billy and in Cassie’s childhood, Wendy loved adventures, often taking short road trips, and camping in the North Georgia Mountains. When Billy passed away in 2004, Wendy continued her adventures, often returning to Maryland to reconnect with old friends. Although she remained in Georgia from the 1970s until her passing, she never seemed to lose her love and connection to her home and mountains.
Wendy was blessed to rediscover love late in life. She reconnected with her high school sweetheart, John Paul Arsenault, and remarried in 2018. Together they dreamed of retiring and traveling the National Parks and mountains. They spent a lot of time at nature centers and on trails near to Atlanta. Wendy found and embraced a talent for wildlife photography. Her heart and body began to slow her down over the last several years, but even as her body grew weary she was a tireless cheerleader and support for her family and friends. Friends and family remember her as “full of love,” “full of laughter,” and “amazingly strong.” She loved to love.
Wendy is survived by her husband, John Paul Arsenault, her daughter Cassie (Philip) Thompson and two granddaughters, Julia Elizabeth and Sarah Joyce of Savannah, Georgia. She is also survived by her brother Jay Winter and favorite younger sister-in- law Cheryl Winter of Virginia, and older sister Robin Winter and brother-in-law William (Bill) Mantone of Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Jay Winter and Vernetta Mildred Winter, and her brother Kevin Winter (Evelyn).
Wendy will have a family memorial to be decided at a later date. Additionally, plans are being made for a celebration of life in Maryland at a later date.
