

Dr. William Mahlon Davis II, 82, of Sandy Springs passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. He was a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Davis graduated from the Emory University School of Dentistry, Class of 1955. During his pre-dental preparation at Emory, he met Marilyn Belanus, who was a freshman at Agnes Scott College, at the home of a fraternity sponsor. Marilyn became his wife on June 26, 1954. After graduation, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant dental officer. He was deployed at Fort Carson, Colorado. Dr. and Mrs. Davis returned to Atlanta in 1957 and set up his dental practice in East Atlanta, later moving to downtown and then to Dunwoody. He had a love for classical music, to which he would listen for hours on end. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his beloved Marilyn, his wife of nearly 60 years, his daughter, Marie Davis (Dr. Jeff) Turner, and his grandson, Michael Davis Turner and his fiancée, Kaitlyn Chandler. There will be a private burial service at Arlington Cemetery on Friday, March 14, 2014, to be followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at the Northside United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors in the church parlor between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 S.
