William R. Humphlett III

William R., III, Sandy Springs, died July 29, 2012 from complications from lung cancer. Bill, 72, was born August 1, 1939 in Charleston, SC to William R. Humphlett, Jr. and Roberta Roberson Humphlett. He received his BS degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech in 1962 and after service in the U.S. Coast Guard, joined C&S bank in Atlanta, where he rose to vice president. He then entered commercial real estate and founded his own company, Fidelity Properties, Inc. in 1994, which did business throughout Georgia and in Tennessee. He was a member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors and the East Cobb County Civic Association. He received the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the CCIM Institute, in recognition of his expertise in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate. He is survived by his wife, Mary Stokes Humphlett; four children, Dan Morris and wife Christine of East Cobb County, Henry Morris of Atlanta, Ellen Bender and husband John of Atlanta, and Susan Carlson and husband Chad of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren; and a brother, James Humphlett and wife Eileen of Murphy, NC. Funeral services will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.
