Alma “Lois” Watson, 90, of Altamonte Springs, FL, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on June 10, 2023. She was born on January 16, 1933, from humble beginnings, in Andalusia, Covington County, Alabama. She was the daughter of JC and Alma (Jackson) Flowers.
She met her husband and forever soulmate, Kenneth C. Watson while he was home on leave from the army. After dating for 11 months, they married on August 14, 1954. She and Kent had three daughters and they enjoyed traveling throughout his army career including two tours in Germany. After he retired the family moved to Central Florida in 1967 and built a home in Altamonte Springs.
Fishing was a lifelong passion for Lois, whether it was from the bank or from the family boat. Sometimes that passion led Lois, and her young family of five, to the Florida Keys where overcoming the challenges of camping became unforgettable adventures for them all. She also enjoyed working with Kent in their beautiful yard filled with flowers, fruit trees and vegetable gardens.
Lois had thoughts of becoming a nurse but found her professional niche working in the public school system, enabling her to be available for her daughters after school. Since she was always a good cook, it was an easy choice to work in the school cafeteria. But when the physical demands of that job became too much for her, and with Kent’s supportive urging, Lois chose to finish out her career as a school bus driver, always keeping in sync with her children’s schedules.
Lois’ family was the center of her life and she loved and cherished spending time with them. Lois had an exceptionally kind and generous heart. Putting other family members first was a priority for her, it’s who she was. She was always willing to give anything she had to help any of her family members get through difficult times. For over five decades her family home provided love, shelter, security, and support for four generations. Lois was a wonderful person and is leaving behind an undeniable legacy of love.
Lois is preceded in passing by her husband Kent and daughter Rhonda Cimino. She is survived by her daughters Karen Watson, Kathryn Koch (and husband Ed), son-in-law Leo Cimino, four grandchildren: Ryan Cimino, Rachel Tighe (and husband Jeff), Derek Zink, Desiree Zink, six great grandchildren, brother Bobby Flowers and sister Gail Whisonant.
Funeral services will be held on June 20, 2023, at 9:00 AM, Baldwin Fairchild at Oaklawn, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, FL, 32771.
