

Barbara Flynt Ray, 90, of Sanford, Florida, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 after declining health. She was born in Geneva, Florida on August 25, 1935. Barbara graduated from Seminole High School, Class of ‘53. She was married to G. Troy Ray, Jr. on April 20, 1974. Barbara made her career in Finance and Administration for First Federal Savings and Loan, in Sanford, where she began immediately following High School and continued for forty-five years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sanford where served for many years on the altar guild. She had a passion for watching the wildlife in her backyard from the living room. She especially enjoyed the families of Sand Hill cranes as they came and went year after year. They often greeted her by tapping their beaks on the glass door.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Marian Darnell and Troy Ray, III. Her stepdaughter, Susan, predeceased her in 2000. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Melissa Darnell Basel, Ben Darnell, Karissa Ray Tremblay, Nathan Ray and Lauren Ray Boudreaux. From these, she had fifteen great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Mary Jane Barbour and her nieces, Katie and Stephanie.
Funeral arrangements are provided by Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel & Oaklawn Cemetery . Visitation and Memorial service will be held there Saturday, May 16th with visitation beginning at 2PM, followed by the service at 3PM. A graveside service will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery, located at 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida.
