

Chesney John Roberts was born July 29th, 1956. He was born in Durban, South Africa to Isabel Martha Roberts and Chesney Reginald Roberts. He lived with his three sisters and brother- Janine, Shane, Michelle, and Nicole. Chesney passed away on March 8th, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Roberts and his daughter, Ashley Paige Roberts. Chesney was raised in South Africa but also lived in Australia for a brief period of time. He loved sports and played every sport there was to offer at Durban Boys High. He graduated Durban Boys High doing what he loved- running. After High School Ches joined the South African Army where he excelled to the rank of a PT instructor. He ran the Comrades twice, which is a 50 mile race and finished 69th in the world in only 6.5 hours. Chesney had the honor of having several plaques in Kwa-Zulu Natal on the Comrades Wall of Fame. He met the love of his life Tammy on a Caribbean cruise in 1987. They traveled the world together and loved every minute. After getting married in South Africa on November 7th, 1987, (and Vegas) they moved to Sarasota, Florida. Being the travelers they were, Tammy and Chesney moved to San Francisco California. Ashley Paige was brought into this world on July 27th, 1995 in Southern California. Chesney lived a wonderful life, he always felt blessed. In between being a regional manager in food service and self-storage, he always found time to do what he loved. He packed more into his life than most people ever get the opportunity to do. He ran over 100 marathons, traveled the world twice, had a loving family, and lived a great life for 18 years in Lake Mary Florida. He loved his puppies, Abby & Rusty, and his favorite guinea pig Moski. He loved to cook and to garden. He saw every episode of Seinfeld twice and loved to watch professional golf. He had seen every James Bond movie and traded in the stock market. He loved the beach and the sun. He loved making people happy. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, with memorial services beginning at 3:00 pm; with Pastor Harvey Carpenter officiating.
