He is survived by his wife, Terry; two daughters, Chelsea and Alexis; a granddaughter, Nellie; as well as his two sisters, Karen and Susan; his brother, Keith; 12 nieces and nephews; and six cousins who will greatly miss him.
David spent his formative years abroad, growing up in Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, and London. David graduated from McLean High School before embarking on his undergraduate studies at William and Mary. He then pursued his passion for law by attending Florida State University.
From his meteoric rise from the ranks at Carlton Fields in record time to his many years as a star litigation shareholder at Honigman Miller Schwartz & Cohn, Greenberg Traurig, BakerHostetler, to co-founding Morgan & Morgan’s commercial contingent fee group, to his last several years as partner at Gray Robinson, David exemplified excellence. He was a versatile, creative, and fearless lawyer with a pragmatic, common-sense approach. Despite formidable trial skills, he always sought to resolve litigation, and he cared deeply about his clients. In the courtroom, he was a first-rate trial lawyer. Commanding, credible, and thoroughly likable. A deadly combination, earning him special recognition as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” for commercial litigation from 2006 to 2024.
David was not just a good man; he embodied the essence of being a great father, provider, and wonderful person. His infectious smile lit up every room he entered, radiating warmth and positivity. David treated everyone with kindness and respect, leaving an indelible impression on those fortunate enough to cross his path. He went above and beyond to ensure the well-being and happiness of his family and friends. He had a passion for playing his many guitars, The Rolling Stones, The Twisted Lemurs, FSU football, taco night, and his favorite beer, Budweiser. His favorite pastimes included reading books, telling jokes, and pulling off a good prank. He also held a deep reverence for veterans, always giving thanks and showing the utmost respect for their sacrifices and service.
