Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and light into every room she entered. She shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, William M. Freeman, with whom she was married for 36 beautiful years after their wedding on October 21, 1990, in Plainfield, New Jersey.
She was the loving mother of Dwayne Willis and a devoted and nurturing figure to Ashley Freeman, whom she raised and cherished as her own daughter. Ellen’s love for her family was unwavering and unmatched, and she dedicated her life to caring for those closest to her.
A deeply spiritual woman, Ellen held a strong belief in God and found comfort and strength in her faith. She was a regular churchgoer who attended services weekly, and her faith guided the way she lived her life—with compassion, grace, and kindness toward others.
Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Essie Willis (March 7, 1932 – December 27, 2018), and her father Nicholas Willis, October 7, 1926 - May 17, 1976.
She is survived by her beloved husband, William M. Freeman; her son, Dwayne Willis; her daughter, Ashley Freeman; and her cherished siblings, Linda, Ronald, Hugh, Patricia, Arthur, Raemona, Tracy, and Taisha. She also leaves behind extended family, including her sister-in-law Marcia LaCue-Willis and her sister-in-law Sandra Willis, Richard and Leigh Freeman, Barbara Freeman, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Ellen shared a special bond with her best friend of over 50 years, Emily Winslow, whose friendship was a constant source of love and support throughout her life.
Outside of her devotion to family and faith, Ellen found joy in playing tennis and had a deep interest in astrology and the zodiac. She also adored her beloved pets—Buttah, Pepper, and Starboy—who brought her endless happiness.
Ellen will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her compassionate heart, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
There will be a Memorial Service at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, located at 5200 W South St, Orlando, FL 32811 on May 23rd at 11am.
