Dr Stumpf, 

Today, I have the courage to write to you after having the most beautiful dream many days after your passing. You came in through our office window shining as light, radiated from your head to your toes. You wore a white robe made of fine linen. As you entered the office, you hugged me. I introduced you to many of my peers and told you that this was Prestige. You hugged each of us and thanked us for all our hard work. As I led you through the halls of our office your soul radiated peace and light. You looked around our PA department and nodded as confirming we would always have your presence.  After sharing some time with us sitting in an office,you told me it was time to go and led me back to the window as you faced the heavens. You waved and as you flew away, your white robe fell on the roof next to the window seal and you disappeared in radiant light into the sky above. 
I know you stand next to God today and you confirmed that with this dream. You will live forever in our minds, souls and dreams. I wish peace on your family and if ever they open this page again, they will know that your soul is like a star shinning like an angel in the sky. Please know you are still missed. 

I met Erik in the first days of medical school at SUNY Buffalo, when, due to our last names, we were assigned to the same cadaver during gross anatomy. He was always kind and easy to talk with. It's been over 20 yrs since I've seen him, and tonight while watching baseball on TV, there was commentary on someone with the last name Stumpf. I immediately thought of Erik, which prompted me to search online to see what he was doing. I was saddened to read of his passing. Reading through everyone's messages, it sounds like he became the type of doctor I thought he would. I'm so sorry for your loss. Try to take comfort from the fact that he was loved by so many. RIP, Erik - thanks for helping me through gross anatomy so many years ago.

He was a gentle, caring man.   It was a gift to work with him in his residency!    

Dr. Stumpf was such a great influence for me with my work at Prestige.  He liked to discuss cases and provide teaching moments which were so helpful.  He will really be missed.

I worked with Dr. Stumpf at Halifax. I remember him as a resident in the ER. He was always knowledgable, kind, genuine and compassionate with both staff and patients. My condolences to the family.

Eric was my best friend in medical school, SUNY at Buffalo '95. A truly genuine person. A Christian with a wonderful testimony! He used to call me "Time" for Time-Warner, the local cable company :) I was sorry that Florida stole him!  I heard the news from Don McPhee. My heart goes out to his family.  He will be missed.

Something made me look for the Hoffman sisters on Facebook. I found Linda and that led me to this sad news. It's been a long time but my parents were neighbors of Chuck and Mary Ellen and I was dance student. I'm so sorry to hear this news. Bless you.

I had the pleasure to work with Erik for some time at Halifax. And we also attended Crossroads Baptist Church at the same time.  He was an inspirational man, proud to talk of his love for Christ, and his love for his family.  He always respected the nurses' oppinions and thoughts on patients. He was always so happy to talk of his wife and children, and you could see his face light up and the sparkle in his eyes.  He will truly be very missed by the countless lives he touched!

I am so sorry to hear the loss of a great man and physician.  Dr. Stumpf was a highlight in my profession.  He was kind and genuine; always taking time to listen.   He will truly be missed!  I wish you and your family the best!

Dear Donna, It has been many years since CHHS and Geraldine Hoffman School of Dance. We all have grown and had our families since that time.  Mom and Dads should never have to lose their child at any age and I cannot even imagine the pain of your loss.  Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sending you prayers. I enjoyed working with Erik. I found him an island of knowledge and reason in a sea of turmoil. I considered him an esteemed colleague.

You can tell by the meaningful moments, smiles, laughter, and tears what kind a soul a person has. Erik had a beautiful soul.  While Erik's intelligence, passion for family medicine and for person-centered and population driven health care brought us together, we connected at a much deeper level.  Erik was kind and caring, a good listener, a person of faith, who deeply loved his wife and children, and was always pointed in the right direction - - a real "mensch" as we say, with all the finest attributes we strive to emulate.  I cherish those moments, and remember the special times we had.  May the love of family and friends be of comfort to Amy and their children during this time of mourning.  May the memory of this extraordinary person give his family and those blessed to know him hope, joy, laughter, strength, meaning and peace in the days, months and years ahead. Like the sun, moon and stars in the sky, Erik will always be with us if we look for him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers. I know Erik from his time at Daytona Beach Baptist Church/CrossRoads Ministries. When I was pregnant with my last child, I would sit close to Erik during the evening church service. I knew that if I was feeling poorly, he would take over and play the piano for me at the end of the service.  He was a compassionate man who lived a life of integrity.  May God give you comfort and strength as you are in the midst of great sorrow. You will be in my prayers. There is peace in knowing that Erik is praising Jesus in heaven right now and for all eternity.

I met Dr. Stumpf when he started at Florida Blue..when he found out I was from the Buffalo area, we had many conversations about the Sabres & Buffalo Bills. He was kind, attentive & always provided knowledge that helped each one he encountered to grow a little more professionally. He will be missed but his spirit & ideas will continue forward. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

I worked with Dr Stumpf at Halifax both in the ER and on rounds. He was a terrific, compassionate doctor. I'm so sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

I was one of Eric's faculty during his residency at Halifax Medical and Sports Medicine Residency. He was a wonderful Christian Man and an outstanding Resident whom I admired greatly. I knew he would be an exceptional Family Physician. This news has saddened me greatly. What a great loss to the family and society! My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you, the family.

I had the privledge of teaching and working with Erik when I was the director of Erik's family medicine residency program. Of the hundreds of medical residents I worked with in my career, Erik was truly one of the finest. Possessed of a keen mind and overwhelming compassion, he was a blessing to patient's and colleagues.

I am so honored to call Erik my brother in Christ Jesus. Erik walked out his Love of Jesus, in the life he lived. Erik represented our Savior,  through his nurturing smile, his tender heart, and the Godly compassion and mercies that he graced us all with, each and everyday in his walk with Christ.  You brightened the ER halls of Halifax Hospital, with your contagious happy smile and laughter...I'm so Blessed to have known you Erik.

I met Dr Stumpf while he and I were volunteering at Harvest Time International. I was impressed by his kindness and compassion for the patients. I saw him again while we were both volunteering at Shepherd's Hope, showing the same love for those in need. The medical community has lost a great physician. God Speed Dr. Stumpf! Erik was a dear man of godly character and grace. Truly admired for his love for God and family. He will be greatly missed by many and I for one, was fortunate to have even known him. Even as a young man, he stood above the rest. 

We have been blessed to have known you for 48 years and see you grow up to be a wonderful son,husband,Dad and nephew to us. We were fortunate to have you move to Florida after medical school. Got to see Luke as a baby and how proud you were in his great accomplishments in high school and on to college. What a blessing when you and Amy had 2 precious children Ethan and Alli.Oh how happy you were and showed it with that big smile.
We will miss you so much but know you are no longer in pain and resting in   God's arms now.Our prayers are with the family during this difficult time..

Amy, my heart is heavy for you, your children and all of Erik's family and friends.  He was such a  genuine soul, a sweet and kind man of God, and one who always had a smile on his face!  As a member of his church family, I feel blessed to have not only known him as my brother in Christ, but also to have played keyboards with him in worship at Lakeside. He will be greatly missed. Dr. Stumpf will always be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him, whether for a little while or a lifetime. His kind and humble ways, respect and understanding of others, his soft and comforting smile and his intelligent conversation will be deeply missed. He stood tall, not only because of his physical height,  but because of the legacy he leaves in the many lives he touched. My prayers for his family. I shared a meal with Erik, John, and Donna at a FAFP meeting in the recent past. That event felt like going from being acquaintances to friends. Family connections are so important, and I know you will all support each other during this time.  In my heart I am with you.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Stumpf. I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with Dr Stumpf at Prestige Health Choice a few years ago. He is remembered for his gentleness, warm friendly smiles and was always very approachable. He will be missed! Here is a light to add to the powerful light you already have. I will always remember you entering the office doors almost touching the top frame of the door with your head and holding in your arms together with your computer these huge red baskets full of all kinds of goodies, made by Amy, for my birthdays, even though my birthday had passed, and Christmases.  You were always so thoughtful, respectful, kind, understanding, patient and I could continue. It was like working with my son. I wish you would have let me assist you also with the heavy weight you had on your shoulders somehow, someway.  Now, I know that you were brave as well.  I don't have enough words to express to Amy, your children, parents and brothers how sorry I am that you had to go so soon. I can tell them though that you loved them all, was so very proud of them and would beam with love and happiness every time you showed me their pictures or talked about them. I am not surprised to read so many heartfelt entries about this very great man. Erik was a great friend and true brother to me and over the years I have watched him touch many lives.  I am comforted in my assurance that Erik is in glory, but my heart and prayers go out to his beautiful family--that they would find real comfort and peace, and that they would so live their lives as to make them a tribute to this great man. I have many fond memories of Erik growing up in Williamsville.  Often it involved playing football on the front lawn, going to Bible School, swimming, sleep overs, or everybody riding their bikes to school.  He was my brother's best friend. Erik was kind and caring person and he will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out your family.

Dr. Erik Stumpf was a highly motivating force to all of us who had the honor of knowing him and working with him at Prestige Health Choice. He was an intelligent, highly principled and compassionate person, always made the staff feel like he was completely approachable on any subject.  He was so proud of his beautiful wife and children, his face just beamed when he spoke of them or showed us their pictures. He set an example for us all at Prestige, his motivating force in his work with Prestige and the Network was not out of self-pride, but rather was because he believed so strongly in this Plan's mission.  My heart and prayers go out to his family, such a profound loss.  I pray that God's grace will give them the strength and faith they need going forward.

We at Prestige valued and respected Dr. Stumpf so much. His input and feedback were always so thoughtful, and he always had a kind word.  He shared his knowledge across departments and staffing levels and I can personally say I benefitted greatly from knowing him.  Anyone who can pick another Upstate New Yorker out in a crowd will always be appreciated by me!  You'll be greatly missed, kind sir.

I was blessed to work with Dr. Stumpf for a short time at Prestige and to have met his family.  He was a very spiritual man who showed compassion for his patients and his coworkers.  I'm heart broken to hear of his passing and for his family and praying that they will find comfort in knowing that he is now with God but will always be in the hearts of those lives he touched.  Praying for Gods peace and comfort for all those grieving at this difficult time.

Dr. Erik Stumpf was an encourager and an advocate for the nurses who worked closely with him. He was willing to extend himself to the nurses that he worked with.  He was so kind. I learned much from him, and I knew that he was willing to share his medical knowledge with us. It was exhilarating learning from him because he was so down to earth, giving medical information to us right on the spot about a diagnosis/treatment, with which we were unfamiliar. He would attend our monthly Case Management meetings and immediately give us feedback. I appreciated his involvement. He even used to call me on my phone and E-mail me when there was an ongoing concern for a patient. Dr. Stumpf listened to what I said and he read what I wrote, assisting me as a Case Manager, with more than one patient and personally facilitating the process of getting patients set- up for doctors that see patients in their home. He will be missed by those of who experienced the kindness of this wonderful Physician.

Dr. Stumpf will be missed greatly - his love for God and family, his warmth, quick smile and genuineness. He is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. I pray that God Bless & Comfort his family.
