
Gregory Keith Stone, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 16, 2024, in his hometown of Orlando, Florida. He was 72 years old. Born on October 7, 1951, in Arcadia, Florida and raised in Winter Park, Florida. Greg lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Greg graduated from Colonial High School, part of Orange County Public Schools, before attending Seminole State College. He then received a baseball scholarship to Birmingham Southern College where he completed, he bachelor’s degree. After completing college, he returned home and met the love of his life, Debbie Jones. They shared many happy years together, raising two wonderful sons, Carson, and Clayton.
Greg dedicated his professional life to education, teaching English at Evans High School in Orange County Public Schools, where he was a beloved and inspiring teacher. He also volunteered as a coach for his son Clayton at the Seminole Soccer Club, sharing his passion for sports with young athletes.
Forced into early retirement due to health issues, Greg continued to show unwavering love and care for his family. Known for his engaging conversations, vast knowledge of history, and ability to connect with others on a wide range of topics, Greg was a joy to be around. He enjoyed reading, watching sports and movies, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
A die-hard Gator fan, Greg’s love for the University of Florida (UF) football team was a lifelong passion. From an early age, he attended and watched Gator games with his father, family, and friends. His wife, Deb, a UF alumna, wholeheartedly supported his enthusiastic love for the Gators.
Greg, son of H. Keith and Shirley Stone, was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah Stone, who passed away on May 11, 2008. He is survived by his sons, Carson Stone and his wife Sarah, and their children, Skyler and Sophie; and Clayton Stone and his wife Caroline, and their children, Melody, Trinidy, Gabriella, Evelyn, and Kristen. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Walsh, and her husband Pat, and their son Jarrod; and his brother, Timothy Stone.
Greg will be remembered for his calm demeanor, supportive nature, and acceptance of others. He had a love for singing in the car, which brought joy to those around him.
A memorial service to celebrate Greg's life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. If anyone wants to make a donation the family requests that they be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) in Greg's honor.
Gregory Keith Stone's life was a testament to the power of love, education, and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. The funeral service will begin at 2 pm with interment to follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
