

Helen “Lee” Painter, a longtime resident of Lake Mary, Florida, and a beloved resident of Grand Living passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at the age of 101. Lee was born August 14, 1924, to Lewis Romanowski and Mary Chekatska Romanowski in Luzerne, PA. Before retiring from a career in retail management, Lee lived for many years in Pompton Plains, NJ.
A widow of 25 years, Lee was predeceased by her husband Valentine and 9 siblings. A strong woman, she lived life on her terms. She was an accomplished gardener who brought beauty to this world, and she served her community by volunteering at many church activities. Her passing leaves a void deeply felt by all who knew her.
At the heart of Lee’s life was her family who surrounded her with love and support. She is survived by her son Gregory Painter and his wife Karen, her daughter Barbara Glanville and her husband Mark, and her son Brian Painter and his wife Cindi.
Lee is also survived by grandchildren Steven and Kathryn Painter, Lauren Palmer and her husband Chris, Ryan Glanville, and Samantha and Christopher Painter, along with great grandchildren Mason, Delilah and Calvin. Lee’s proudest accomplishments were raising her children, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and being “Mother Monarch.”
Her family has requested a private memorial service. Her family is extremely grateful to all who knew her and cared for her so lovingly.
