

James Wendell Agee, 79, of Lake Mary passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Wendell was born on September 3, 1936 in Weiser, Idaho; the son of Mitchell and Lena Agee. He married his current wife Sharon Agee on May 6, 1989. Wendell’s career included Partner, W.M. Agee & Sons Builders, 1958 to 1960, Branch manager, General Acceptance Corp, 1960 to 1971, Vice President of loans, Flagship Bank of Seminole, 1971 to 1979, President and majority stockholder, WenCo Development Corp., 1970 to 1988, President and majority stockholder, 1st Florida Title Corp, 1980 to 1984, Managing general partner, Zom Twin Homes, 1981 to 1986. His education was obtained at Georgia Tech Civil Engineering, University of Oklahoma Lending School, the American Institute of Banking, and All State College of Construction. Wendell held many positions civically, he was past President of the following organizations, Sanford Seminole Jaycees, Seminole County Association for Retarded Children, Little Red Schoolhouse, United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida, United Cerebral Palsy of Florida; also past Director of Greater Sanford Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Bankers Association Group Five. His government appointments included Chairman of Board of Trustees, Seminole Community College, Chairman of Board of Directors, Seminole County Port Authority, Chairman of Board of Commissioners, Seminole County Planning and Zoning, Member of Eighteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Wendell was the developer and builder of Cedar Creek Condominiums, where he served as president, Developer and Builder of Magnolia Pointe in Orlando, where he served as president, and Starboard Light, where he served as board president for over 10 years in total. Wendell leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Sharon Agee of Lake Mary, sons Jim Agee and wife Michele of Jacksonville, Mike Agee and wife Helen of Knoxville. TN., grandchildren Christopher, Melanie, Chelsea, and Mitch Agee, a brother Carroll and wife Jo of Flagstaff, AZ., his first wife Patsy Agee of Jacksonville, and sister-in-law Sandy Agee of Bradenton. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, and closest friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Bill Agee. A gathering of friends a and family will take place at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Park of Sanford on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Memorial services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
