

Leonard Mergenov was born on October 2nd, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to Albert and Louise Mergenov. Len and his brother, Buddy, enjoyed their early years as caddies at Firestone Country Club in Akron which sparked his lifelong love of golf. After a tour in the Air Force during the Korean War, he graduated from Kent State University with a degree in accounting. He married Diane Garick in 1962 and had a son, Jason, 7 years later. He continued his career at General Tire until the family moved to Florida in 1978. After starting his own business, he settled into a career as an accountant for the Division of Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco. After 31 years of a loving marriage, Diane passed away in 1993. He met his present wife, Jan, at Timacuan Country Club and they bonded through their mutual love of golf. After marrying in 1999, they shared many, happy years of travel and golf adventures. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his extremely dry wit and off beat sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Janet Mergenov, of Lake Mary, FL; his son Jason Mergenov (Carrie), of California; his step daughters, Tracy Fleming(Larry), of Lake Mary, FL and Kimberly Johnson, of Deltona, FL; step sons, Jay Johnson, of Lake Mary, FL and Tyler Johnson(Jill), of Longwood, FL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
