

MARGARET GLENORA WARREN BRUCE passed peacefully on Saturday October 1, 2016 at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 14, 1924, in Northbranch, Michigan to Glenn and Maude Warren. Margaret graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in education in 1964. She was a wonderful and well-loved teacher throughout her life. In Northbranch, she taught kindergarteners, many of whom remained friends for the rest of her life. In Flint, she taught third graders at Eisenhower Elementary school, teaching many of them to appreciate reading for the first time. Margaret and her husband of 64 years, Jim Bruce, were active, lifelong members of First Presbyterian Church in Flint, Michigan. She took particular delight in teaching Sunday school and working with the young choristers. Margaret enjoyed travel, designing one of a kind clothing, amusement parks and playing cards, especially with her grandchildren. Margaret had a zest for life and a love of adventure. She enjoyed meeting new friends wherever she went and was considerate and thoughtful of everyone who crossed her path. Margaret is survived by her deeply loved husband of 64 years, Jim Bruce, Sr. They enjoyed an inspiring love affair for the ages, full of life, devotion and adventure. In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her loving children, Deborah Bruce Boyd (Wayne) and James Bruce, Jr. (Amy), her much beloved grandchildren, Angela Dean (Carl), Adam Boyd (predeceased), Katlynn Bruce and James Bruce. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and numerous life-long and recent friends. Due to the severe weather associated with hurricane Matthew, viewing will has been canceled. On Saturday, there will be a funeral service at the Baldwin-Fairchild funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at 12:00 p.m. if weather permits.
