Margaret "Jean" Jeannine McLain

Margaret Jeannine "Jean" McLain, age 92, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021. Margaret was born September 23, 1928, in Sanford, FL to Henry Alfred and Margaret Louise Manning. She grew up in Sanford, graduating in 1946 from Seminole High School. She married one of her best friend's brothers, Ralph McLain July 5th, 1953 in Sanford, FL. They were married 51 years before his passing in 2004. She was a lifelong Baptist, belonging to First Baptist & Elder Springs Baptist, Sanford.

Jean was owner and teacher of her preschool daycare, Krayola Kollege, later Mama Jean's Preschool & Childcare. She began her career as a hairdresser and preschool teacher at Happy Acres before opening Guys & Dolls Nursery School in the 1960s. Jean retired 20 years ago to Edgewater, FL. She is remembered and loved by many students, parents, and family.

She is survived by her son, Daryl McLain and his wife, Barbie, along with her daughter, Debbie and her husband Henry Bowlin. She leaves 5 grandchildren, Chris (Lindsay) Bowlin, Randy (Brittany) Bowlin, Matt (Jen) Bowlin, Charlie (Julie) McLain, and Mandy (Mike) Meadows, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held June 12th, 2021 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Osteen Baptist Church, 321 State Rte 415, Osteen, FL 32764 with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Osteen’s Children’s Ministry and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
