
Margaret (Peggy) Martin Edwards Snowdon, 94, of Orange City, Florida passed away on Saturday April 28, 2018. Born Margaret Martin Edwards in June 8, 1923 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Robert W. and Laura M. Edwards she lived there until age 6. She then moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
At age 20 she entered the U.S. Navy as a wave during WW II and served 3 years as a Yeoman. She was stationed at Washington, D.C. and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After discharge she entered nursing at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and followed that by going into Anesthesia at Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Upon graduation in 1953 she moved to Pittsburg and lived there until 1974.
In 1974 she married and moved to Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. In 1977 she and her husband moved to Florida. She practiced as a Certified Reregistered Nurse Anesthetist in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Daytona and Ormond Beach until retirement in 1996.
Mrs. Snowdon was predeceased in 1992 by her husband Charles Taft Snowdon, who was President William Howard Taft’s great nephew. Charles’s mother acted as hostess at the White House after the First Lady suffered a stroke, allowing Charles to be a resident there as an infant. President Taft was his Godfather and Charles was a pallbearer at the President’s funeral.
Mrs. Snowdon is survived by three step children, Charles Taft Snowdon Jr., Mar-Lou Sasso, George T. Snowdon, and one grandchild Mary Lanners.
Mrs. Snowdon’s interests were volunteering and gardening which she loved very much.
